The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department found several people breaking the law on Christie Lake in Lawrence Saturday night. Extra officers were patrolling the waterways throughout Michigan over the weekend as part of Operation Dry Water. In the first instance, seven people from Illinois that are 19 and 20 years old were arrested for alcohol violations. Their blood-alcohol levels ranged from point-08 to point-24, three times the legal limit drunk. Officers were not able to find out from the suspects who provided them with the booze. Around 11 p.m. Saturday, officers also arrested a 27-year-old Chicago man for boating while drunk. They have not released what his blood-alcohol content was.
