Kalamazoo Girl Drowns In South Haven

The little girl who drowned Wednesday in South Haven was three year old Maleisa Brown of Kalamazoo. South Haven police say the girl's mother left her with some family members for a few minutes to go use the bathroom, and the child was found in about four to five feet of water by another swimmer a short time later. She was about ten feet inside the swim buoys when she was located. 911 was called after the mother returned to the area and could not find her daughter. Police say Child Protective Services has been contacted, but are not offering any further details at this time.
