A St. Joseph bridal gown designer has donated the rest of what she had in her inventory to charity. Claire Fetters of Alexa Claire Boutique and Tux Shop tells WSJM she stopped designing the gowns five years ago and gave away the 45 or so she still had left. She says they can be tailored to fit a bride who needs a gown.
About 10 or so gowns were donated to Goodwill in Benton Harbor, while another 35 were split up between the nonprofit Brides Project in Ann Arbor, the nonprofit Brides Against Breast Cancer in Sarasota, Florida and The Bridal Garden consignment store in New York City. The gowns had a retail value of over 20-thousand dollars.
