MDOT Spending More In SW Michigan On Roadwork This Year



Even with all the talk in Lansing about finding more money for road projects, the Michigan Department of Transportation is going to spend about seven-million-dollars more in this region this summer than in 2011. MDOT spokesman Nick Schirripa says for Berrien County there is one main bit of roadwork to watch for.

That construction will get underway in late May after the Senior PGA Championship tournament ends in Benton Harbor. Schirripa says it's expected to run through mid-August. Overall, MDOT is spending about 85-million dollars on major projects in Allegan, Berrien, Barry, Branch and Kalamazoo counties this summer.
