South Haven Man Charegd With Attempted Break In

A South Haven man was arrested this week after allegedly trying to break into a Bangor home. The Van Buren County Sheriffs Department says that deputies were sent to the residence in the 27 thousand block of 68th Street on Monday night when the people inside called dispatch. They reported someone trying to get into the home through the front door and then running off. Police got a description of the suspect from the would-be victims, and began searching the area. They found a woman sitting in a car not far from the home, and she told them that her boyfriend had left her there to go find some jumper cables after their vehicle broke down. However, deputies found there was nothing wrong with the car, so they got suspicious and brought in a K Nine who did find 23 year old Derrick White hiding in a nearby pole barn. He was arrested on attempted home invasion charges, among other things, and arraigned Tuesday. Bond was set at five thousand dollars.
