Something like 35 million -- that's the very rough estimate for the baseline cost of another Lakeshore Schools improvement project. On Monday, district officials and consultants revealed the results of a facilities assessment that's been conducted in recent months to prepare for a improvement bond. David Martin, with the architectural firm Kingscott, told us that, at the very least and NOT including the cost of technology, the price tag Lakeshore may be looking at for upgrading its existing buildings is 35 point five million dollars:
The plan being considered now would involve no building replacements, and upgrades to things like pipes, ceilings, roofs, windows, and hallways. Phase One of the planning process is now over, and Phase Two will involve the creation of several committees with citizens to review what people want in an improvement project. That'll take about six months, and a final proposal could be ready in October. In the meantime, you'll be able to see the facilities assessment report at www.Lakeshore.Kingscott.com soon. There will also be virtual surveys conducted in the coming months.
