The Watervliet City Commission this week voted to start paying Mayor David Brinker 20 dollars an hour for the extra work he's been doing at city hall. Watervliet has been without a city manager since late 2010, and since taking office, Brinker has essentially taken on those duties. The commission's vote to pay him for it comes with a stipulation that he'll only get compensated for a maximum of 24 hours a week. Brinker expects to be at city hall doing administrative work at least about 12 hours per week. The next step for the city commission will be to develop a list of priorities for Brinker as he settles into the expanded role.
