State Senator John Proos is among the Michigan lawmakers reviewing Governor Rick Snyder's new budget proposal. Snyder on Thursday outlined a spending plan that inlcudes more money for colleges and universities, law enforcement, health programs, and agriculture. Plus, there's extra funding in there for K through 12 schools, although much of it is with strings attached. Senator Proos says that's not a bad thing, necessarily:
Proos said that it is a positive sign that Michigan had a budget surplus on the year to be able to divide up in the first place. Meanwhile, State Representative Al Pscholka has told us in the past that he believes a good deal of any surplus ought to be spent on paying down debt.
