Congressman Fred Upton on Friday announced two new Southwest Michigan nominations for the West Point military academy. Corry Daoust, of Paw Paw, and Brandon Vukelich, of Schoolcraft, have been accepted to attend next year. Upton, who recommended Daoust and Vukelich for the prestigious service academy, personally congratulated them and said they represent the best of what Michigan has to offer. As a congressman, he gets to nominate students from the Sixth District for several United States military institutions. Upton's office says that Daoust is currently a freshman at the University of Michigan, Vukelich is a senior at Schoolcraft High School.
