The Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department will be offering a citizens police academy this year. Deputy Chief Rick Smiedendorf tells us that any township resident over 18 could qualify to come and attend the seven week course that delves into several aspects of police work:
He says that the classes will start in March, and be held on Thursdays for about two hours per session. However, the deadline to register is this month. Anyone interested in signing up can pick up an application at the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Station, or at the office of the Journal Era.
