Advocates Want MI Surplus Spent On Education



With the state projected to wind up with a surplus for fiscal year 2012, many advocates in Michigan are calling for increased spending in the programs they support the most. Among them is Steven Cook, President of the Michigan Education Association. He says that politicians should step up to restore some money for schools around the state, and hopes Governor Rick Snyder will warm up to the idea:

Cook warns that a lack of equitable and stable funding for education will come back to haunt Michigan and any economic progress the state is beginning to make. Governor Snyder is set to unveil his budget proposal on February ninth.
