A book has been written about the history of Lakeland Hospital. Two retired Lakeland doctors, William Bock and John Carter, put it together over the course of about a year, researching the evolution of the facility out of some consolations with other hospitals nearby, and how various boards and directors managed to bring more physicians into the area. Doctor Carter tells us that their work -- going all the way back to the beginning of the last century -- built up what is Lakeland today:
Both Doctors Carter and Bock say that advances in technology drastically changed the medical field during their careers, and they expect that to continue. "The History of Lakeland Healthcare" will be available at the Lakeland gift shop, as well as the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center.
