Some special tax incentives for people to donate to their favorite charities will expire at the end of this year. It used to be that a person in Michigan could get as much as a 50 percent credit for contributions to some organizations...but Governor Rick Snyder's new budget plan puts an end to that. The Berrien Community Foundation's's Nanette Keiser says that she's waiting to see if that'll hurt some non profits, like soup kitchens and others that rely heavily on donations from individuals:
Keiser hopes that the legislature finds some way to restore that charitable giving tax credit, which had been in place for about 45 years. She says that you still have time to take advantage of it -- the credit remains available through the 31st of this month.
