Sharing public services across multiple communities is something that the state is encouraging local governments to consider as a way of saving money, and leaders in Paw Paw are doing just that. Village Manager Larry Nielsen says that the village council was to consider a resolution this week to conduct study on shared services possibilities. The Michigan Municipal League will pay for about half of it, and Paw Paw will partner with Bangor and the county itself for the rest:
He says that the state's requirement for cities to lock at sharing services to keep getting revenue sharing money has a deadline of next year. Nielsen says that similar efforts are underway in Cass and Berrien Counties, as well.
