Woman Honored By Berrien County Sheriff For Lifesaving Effort

A southwest Michigan woman this week was honored by Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey as he presented her with the sheriffs department’s Lifesaving Award for aiding a gunshot victim in March. Bailey says that Barb Warren, a nurse, found a woman who had been shot by her boyfriend collapsed on the side of a road in Niles. Bailey says that Warren helped slow the victim’s bleeding while waiting for first responders, and that woman is still alive today because of Warren’s efforts:

Warren was presented with the Lifesaving Award at Thursday’s meeting of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners. She thanked Bailey and said that she hopes the March 22nd shooting incident in Niles draws attention to the issue of domestic violence.
