The inaugural Chili Tour from St. Joseph Today is being hailed as a big success. Held Friday evening in downtown St. Joseph, the event brought in nearly 200 people to sample chilis at more than a dozen stores, with Third Coast Surf Shop's Michigan Venison Chili being declared the winner. St. Joseph Today executive director Jill Stone says they will certainly do it again.
Stone says there were vegetarian chilis also available, and two stores got quite creative. One created a chili chocolate-chocolate cake, while another came up with a chipotle beverage for people to try. Stone says St. Joseph Today is working on events to be held the last Friday of every month to keep people coming downtown.
