Water Lines Continue To Freeze In Benton Harbor

"We're fighting an act of God." Those are the words of Benton Harbor City Manager Darwin Watson speaking of the frigid temperatures and its effect on the water system. As of last Friday there were 83 reported frozen water services in the City.

Commissioner Marcus Muhammad, who is among those figures, calls the problem "an act of negligence."

Muhammad had one word for the "83" figure.

Watson says crews continue to help those without service, and encourages everyone with running water to keep it running. He also asks residents to refrain from dumping grease down the drain, as the number of grease blockages are on the rise.
