United Way Of Southwest Michigan Exceeds Its $3.3-Million Campaign Goal



There was much cause for celebration Wednesday as the United Way of Southwest Michigan announced the surpassing of its 2013 campaign goal. Over $3.4-million were raised, which is the highest amount ever raised in the organization's 71-year history. President Anna Murphy was excited.

The celebration took place at Shadowland Ballroom in St. Joseph. When it comes to raising money, Murphy says don't let the economic climate fool you.

Murphy says the challenge to successfully continue reaching their goals is diversifying and finding new partners.

United Way was supported by 189 companies in Berrien and Cass Counties through either a campaign or corporate gift. The Small Business of the Year Award went to Coloma Township Police Department. Medium Business of the Year went to Kinexus. Whirlpool Corporation was honored with the Large Business of the Year Award.
