United Federal Credit Union Gets Approval For New State Street Branch



Following several public hearings and over the objections of several residents who live along South State Street, United Federal Credit Union has the go-ahead from the St. Joseph City Commission for a new branch at 2807 South State. Ron Blanchard spoke against the proposal and suggested UFCU follow the lead of Whirlpool and set up several large offices outside of the city limits.

Scott Winger is the credit union's property management director for the site and said they don't want to go somewhere else.

Winger added more buildings are being planned for that site over the next several years. The main reason the current issue has taken several months to be approved is the city realized most drive throughs don't comply with the current regulations, and that includes restaurants and businesses alike.
