UFCU Puts $10-K Toward Lancer Marching Band Trip

United Federal Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the Lakeshore Lancer Marching Band. The band is working to raise $350,000 for a trip to Normandy, France, for a special 70th Anniversary D-Day Commemoration on June 6.

Branch Manager at the Stevensville location, Emily Szymkiewicz, say the account allows parents to send money to their traveling children via online banking. UFCU President Gary Easterling says "it's a great honor for these teenagers to represent our community and our state on such an important anniversary for our country." In addition to a performance, the band will honor the 419 Michigan soldiers resting at the Normandy American Cemetery by pouring sand, collected from Michigan high schools from across the state, on their graves. Anyone wishing to help out can make a donation at UFCU under the Lakeshore Band Parents account. So far $300,000 has been raised between fundraisers, grants, and donations.
