U.S. Commerce Secretary: Manufacturing Perception Needs To Change

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker says the Obama administration is trying to change the perception of manufacturing in America to lure young people to what are now very high-tech and skilled jobs.

She is encouraging more manufacturing companies to take part in Manufacturing Day on October 3, asking them to open the doors to teachers, students and others to help people see exactly what the jobs now entail.

Pritzker made her comments Friday in Benton Harbor as part of an Innovation Matters forum at Whirlpool headquarters.
