A Detroit man with over 90-thousand dollars hidden in his vehicle was arrested Tuesday by officers of the Baroda-Lake Township Police Department following a traffic stop on I-94. A press release from Chief Gary Ruhl says that 36 year-old Mark DeShawn Hillery was pulled over on westbound 94 near Browntown Road for having illegally tinted windows. An officer noticed the smell of marijuana in Hillery's Ford Explorer. A K-Nine named Elmo was then brought in, and he indicated something suspicious underneath one of the vehicle's seats. The officer found a hidden compartment -- operated by a piston hydraulic system -- in which two large bricks of cash were stashed. The money was in heat-sealed plastic bags, and the officer in all counted 90-thousand-35 dollars. Hillery denied knowledge of the money, although the Explorer was registered to him. Police seized the cash, and arrested Hillery on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was released after posting 100 dollars bond.
