Three-Year-Old Drowns In South Haven

South Haven Police say a three-year-old girl has become the second person in two days to drown in Lake Michigan. The girl was found in shallow water at South Beach by a swimmer, who took her to shore. Two others performed CPR until a police officer arrived within two minutes of a 911 call being placed. The little girl died at the emergency room at South Haven Health Services. Her mother told police she had left the child with relatives while she went to use the bathroom. By the time she got back about eight minutes later, her daughter had been pulled out of the water. Police say rip currents are not to blame for the little girl's death, as she was far enough from the pier. There are no lifeguards on the beach where the tyke drowned.
