Ten Benton Harbor High School students are being awarded a $5,000 scholarship, funded through the American Electric Power Foundation. The scholarships are awarded by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans to students who plan to pursue higher education and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Benton Harbor usually has at least one recipient of the scholarship, but College Advisor with the high school Felicia Rivers says they hit a record high this year, doubling last year's number. The scholarship will go towards the students financial college career.
