State House Budget Doesn't Increase Gas Taxes For Road Fixes

The state House has approved budget bills which will increase funding for roads in Michigan, but not through increased taxes. Representative Bob Genetski of Saugatuck says Michigan residents made it clear they didn't want to pay more for fuel or to register their vehicles.

The budget bills now to go the Senate. In addition to the road funding, they also include $20 million for public safety programs, an additional $32 million for universities and community colleges and $229 million more for K-12 education funding than was provided for the current academic year.
