St Joseph Shoots Down Rezoning Of Former Ad Agency

Perry Ballard will continue working with the city of St. Joseph to try to rezone the building that used to house his advertising agency. He says the problem he's running into is at some time that no one can pinpoint, the property at 526 Upton Drive was rezoned to residential, and because of that, he can't find a buyer. Ballard says the building was built as a credit union and would need to be torn down and rebuilt to be a house.

Listen:

The St. Joseph Planning Commission had recommended rezoning the property to commercial office, but did not have the input from neighbors. City commissioners heard from them last night, and encouraged them to keep working with city staff and Ballard to find a solution. Perry Ballard Incorporated moved from the building last year to the Box Factory for the Arts, and while retired, Ballard still owns the old facility.
