There are some big shoes to fill at St. Joseph High School. Principal Jeff Runser is retiring effective September 1 after a decade as principal and 29 years with the district. He informed district officials in a letter July 1 that he intended to retire this fall, and the school board voted to approve his retirement this week. Superintendent Ann Cardon tells the "Herald Palladium" that the plan is to have a new principal hired and installed before Runser's final day. She said he will be "awfully hard to replace." Runser taught for four years in Indiana before moving to St. Joseph to become an industrial arts teacher and head basketball coach in 1986.
