A year in prison awaits Southwest Michigan businessman John Bertuca. He's been sentenced to 12 months behind bars in federal prison, a year of probation and has to pay over $100,000 in restitution for filing false tax returns. Bertuca was caught up in a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme out of Grand Rapids according to published reports. The Justice Department is going after three West Michigan men and an Arizona woman for defrauding investors of around $52 million. Bertuca claims he was investing in the scheme and says he can't talk much about the case because he will be testifying for federal prosecutors. He'll serve his sentence once that case wraps up next year. Bertuca is the owner of the now-closed Pump House Grille in downtown St. Joseph.
