South Haven School To Get American Heart Association Teaching Garden

North Shore Elementary School in South Haven has been announced as one of the recipients of an American Heart Association Teaching Garden, which is funded in part by a 90 thousand dollar grant from the Albemarle Foundation. The Heart Association says that, currently, less than one percent of children have ideal cardiovascular health. So, the Teaching Gardens are a real life laboratory where students learn how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest food, and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits and the importance of physical activity. In addition to North Shore, five other elementary schools around the state have been awarded grants for Teaching Gardens. Planting for North Shore's garden could begin in the next school year.
