South Haven Patches Wastewater Leak

It's patched now, but a sanitary sewer leak over the weekend released nearly 2,000 gallons of wastewater in South Haven. The overflow was discovered Saturday afternoon. The broken pipe leaked water into a creek near the intersection of Monroe Boulevard and Lovejoy Street, then into Lake Michigan. Dave Mulac is Superintendent at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

City crews repaired the leak by installing a clamp. Officials will continue to monitor the situation and file reports on the discharge with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Van Buren County Health Department.
