South Haven Noise Ordinance Changes Being Considered



Changes are being considered to the noise ordinance in the city of South Haven, but they're not as drastic as people had feared and posted about on Facebook earlier this week. Linda Anderson is the city's Zoning Administrator and lays out some of the misinformation that was out there.

The South Haven Planning Commission held its first public hearing on the proposal Thursday night.

As it's currently written, the revised ordinance would not ban outdoor music in the evenings, but would not allow noises in residential and commercial areas above ambient noise and conversation from 1:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Anderson notes there will be at least one more public hearing and work sessions held by the planning commission before any vote is made on a recommendation to the city commission. Discussion began on the proposal in March.
