The city of South Haven is considering an overhaul to the North Beach. City Council members are expected to discuss the idea later this month after the Parks Commission voted last week to move forward on the project. South Haven spent nearly $825,000 last year to redo South Beach. The North Beach project could cost as much as $1 million to resurface Lake Shore Drive, add restrooms at the concession stand and building a better access to the north pier. The state kicked in nearly $240,000 for the South Beach project, and the city will seek more grants for the next overhaul.
