South Haven Community Hospital has announced the 2009 results of its annual Harvest Gathering Food Drive. A total of over 28-hundred pounds of food were collected for the We Care emergency food pantry, along with just under 19-hundred dollars. The hospital's Charley Soukup says that the pantry uses such donations to support other emergency food charities in Bangor and Covert. The hospital has helped the effort since around 1998:

Soukup says that this year's total was a little lower than many other years, but he thanked everyone who came out to help support those in need during these unusually hard economic times.
