South Haven Health System is Being Rewarded for Beating National Average in Quality



South Haven Health System is being rewarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for its high marks related to quality. CEO Joanne Urbanski says the Hospital Value-based Purchasing Program, through the Accountable Care Act, scores hospitals of timely and effective care and patient satisfaction.

Through the program, Medicare is withholding one percent of hospital patient reimbursement, they take those funds and redistributing them to hospitals who perform better than a national average. South Haven Health System had one percent of their reimbursement at risk, and it will grow to three percent over the next couple of years.
