Snyder To Senate: Take A Vote, Not A Vacation

Despite Governor Snyder cutting short a trade mission to Israel to try to push it through, the Medicaid reform plan known as Healthy Michigan will have to wait until later this year. The state Senate has adjourned for a summer break without a vote on the expansion, which the House has already approved.

The measure would expand Medicaid through the federal Affordable Care Act, which Snyder wants to see happen. Some conservative Republicans, however, have issues with it, particularly because it's linked to President Obama's healthcare reform law. State Senator John Proos says lawmakers will continue to work on the legislation through the summer break.
