This is the time of year when the American Red Cross steps up its efforts to collect blood donations, and there are several more blood drives set up in Southwest Michigan over the next month. Great Lakes Regional Communications Manager Monika Stoneking says that it's for a reason:
Stoneking says that blood collected right now can last well into the winter months when donations usually go down. She adds that the drives are run by skilled and trained staff, and it's worth everyone's while to take the 45 minutes or so needed to donate:
To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. Now here's a lost of local blood drives:
