Several hotels are protesting the dismissal of former St. Joseph Today Executive Director Tyanna Weller. Six are refusing to pay their monthly dues, but St. Joseph Today board president Larry Schuler says they're working to ease their concerns. Schuler said they held a meeting yesterday with the hotel officials and others who have been upset.
Schuler said if the six hotels that are upset continue to withhold their dues it will have a big impact on the budget of St. Joseph Today. The hotels withholding their dues payments are Candlewood Suites; Courtyard by Marriott; Comfort Suites; Hampton Inn; Silver Beach Hotel; and Holiday Inn Express. Freeman Gilbert, who manages Silver Beach Hotel, says their concerns go deeper than just the Weller situation. He says they're upset about things like the loss of the Venetian Festival and the cancelation of Labor Day Fireworks for starters, though he acknowledged those are not put on by St. Joseph Today.
