Seasonal Weight Restrictions

It's nearly pothole season, and because of that the Berrien County Road Commission is enacting its restrictions on county roads for commercial vehicles. It goes into effect Monday, February 25th at 7:00. John Niemela with the County Road Association of Michigan says "The irregular freeze thaw cycles we're experiencing cause a spring-like break up of roads. Seasonal weight restrictions are intended to protect Michigan�s local roads when they are at their most vulnerable; and even with weight restrictions our roads take a big hit each year." During the weight restriction period, trucks traveling on posted roads must carry lighter loads and travel at slower speeds. Questions on the issue can be answered at micountyroads.org.
