A Chieftain will become a Bear. Former Dowagiac Head Coach Greg Blomgren will replace Head Boy's Basketball Coach Gregg Schaffer. Blomgren says he's excited to start working with his new coaching staff, parents and the players. Currently Saint Joseph doesn't have any teaching positions available, so Blomgren says he'll continue teaching biology at Dowagiac High School.
Blomgren has been a teacher and coach at Dowagiac since 2003. He also coached at Catholic Memorial in Waukesha, Wisconsin and Clear Lake School District in Clear Lake, Iowa. Saint Joseph Principal Jeff Runser says in a press release Blomgren impressed the hiring committee with his diverse basketball background, flexible approach to the game and importance of community pride.
