Recession Blamed For Woes Of Harbor Isle Marina

The waters are troubled for Harbor Isle Marina in St. Joseph. Its owners have defaulted on over $7 million in bank loans, and Amicus Management of Grand Rapids has now been approved as the receiver for the project by Berrien County Trial Court Judge John Donahue. The "Herald Palladium" reports Centier Bank sued Harbor Isle Holdings, Michael Lerner, Daniel Crist and Robert Gomolski, with the receivership being granted two months ago. Four years ago, Harbor Isle was touted as the next great thing in the city with 100 planned boat slips and a seven-story building with more than 50 condos. The recession and housing market crash killed those plans. The property could be on the market by next spring.
