An outbreak of a rare form of meningitis linked to tainted steroids has been reported in seven states, with ours being the latest. Michigan Department of Community Health spokeswoman Angela Minicuci says six cases have been confirmed in the state.
So far, more than 40 people have been sickened by the fungus involved, with five people dying. The steroid shots were given to alleviate back pain.
