Another Republican has announced his candidacy for Berrien County Drain Commissioner. Christopher Quattrin will be running in August's primary, looking to unseat Roger Zilke. Quattrin is a Saint Joseph High School graduate, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Detroit, a Master's degree in business management from Nazareth College, and a Master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy. He's worked on teams responsible for such construction and engineering projects as the Detroit Metro Airport's McNamara Terminal...Tigers Stadium...Ford Field...the Detroit Institute of Arts renovation...and Michigan State University's Bio-Physical building. Quattrin says that "Fresh water is one of our greatest, and most important, natural resource and it is vital that we understand the effect it has on all our lives and livelihoods," adding that his engineering and project planing background suits him for the drain commissioner job. Quattrin's campaign chair is former Lakeland CEO Joe Wasserman.
