Proposed Budgets Put BH In The Black Through 2016

According to proposed budgets, the City of Benton Harbor is set to have a general fund operating surplus of $1.9-million and $2-million for the next two fiscal years respectively.

Deputy Finance Director Jody Lundquist presented the figures during a public hearing Wednesday. City Manager Darwin Watson announced a more proactive approach to road maintenance.

The road projects are made possible through the help of a federal grant. The two budgets will be sent to the state for approval.
