The community is interested, now it must act on developing an actual suicide prevention coalition in Berrien County. On Wednesday, concerned citizens Trent and Lyn Watford hosted a meeting at Lakeland Regional Medical Center to spearhead the idea. The Watford's lost their son Nathan two years ago to suicide, and they are invested in helping others to prevent more loss. Trent Watford shared some statistics about Berrien County high school students.
The coalition wouldn't just be for students, but anyone that may need help. Watford feels the word is out, but now footwork needs to be done.
