Pothole Season is here and the County Wants You to Help Fight it



The Berrien County Road Commission is asking for your help in fighting potholes.

That's Wayne Schoonover with the Road Commission. He says pothole season has already started and it's going to be a bad one at that. The Road Commission is only given so many dollars from the Michigan Transportation Fund to make repairs each year. A lot of patch work is planned throughout the county, not much paving is scheduled this season. Schoonover says the commission needs to stretch as many dollars as possible to cover the most miles it can.

To save money a process known as chip-sealing will be used, its a technique that lays a very thin layer of asphalt over a portion of the roadway to seal away moisture.
