A gambling addiction recovery group is among the recipients of the Pokagon Fund's latest round of grants. This week, the fund announced around 539-thousand dollars in new grants to organizations around Berrien County, and the biggest winner was the Michiana Center for Gambling Recovery, which is getting 350-thousand dollars to buy property for future offices. Others to receive grants include Chikaming Township, which is getting 44-thousand dollars to build a bike path along Townline Road...the Chikaming Township Park and Preserve, which is getting over 50-thousand for a new community garden for people to grow healthy produce...and the Children's Assessment Center for Services for Child Victims of Crimes in New Buffalo and Three Oaks, which is getting 14-thousand dollars to provide counseling to child molestation victims. The Pokagon Fund gives out part of the Four Winds Casino's electronic gaming revenues to projects that benefit the area in a number of ways. It's awarded millions in the past few years.
