Parlak Still Waiting For Answers

Ibrahim Parlak remains in a state of limbo. The Kurdish immigrant still has no idea if he'll be deported to his native Turkey as the US government continues to keep close tabs on him and a bill from Congressman Fred Upton prevents his removal from the country, at least for now. After not hearing much from Ibrahim for the past year, we checked in with his spokesman, Martin Dzuris, this week. Dzuris told us that the situation with Berrien County restaurant owner has been dire and very restricted as of late:

Dzuris says that since the US Supreme Court declined to consider Parlak's case, the only way he could remain in the country would be if Congress actually passed the bills forcing the issue. In the meantime, Parlak's said that he'd be willing to leave, if only there was a place for him to go besides Turkey. Parlak came to the US in the 90s with political asylum status, but following the Nine-Eleven attacks, it was revoked. His supporters maintain that he'd be in danger to go back to Turkey, and that he's never caused any problems here, anyway.
