Overweight Citations May Be Issued Starting Monday

"Frost Laws" restrictions go into effect this Monday in Van Buren County. The Road Commission says restrictions will apply starting March 4th at 7:00 a.m. for all county roads, exception being State Class "A" and County Class "A" roadways. The restrictions reduce the maximum axle load by 35-percent per axle on certain roads. Overweight citations may be issued, leaving the driver to pay the fine. Some fines can be as high as 20-cents a pound for each overweight axle. Any truck found with its axle in the raised position on a restricted road will be stopped and weighed.
