Officially Requesting A Partnership

Stomping out the rumors of a takeover is what the Benton Harbor school board did Tuesday by passing a resolution which moves the district toward a consent agreement with the state of Michigan.

Superintendent Dr. Leonard Seawood says local politicians, state representatives, and nearby school districts have been very supportive of Benton Harbor Area Schools as it begins its journey with the state.

Seawood says a large portion of the requirements the state will impose have already been met by the school system. He says that's because the school board and district officials started preparing for a consent agreement nearly nine months ago.
