No Raises In Latest Lakeshore Teachers Contract

Another year without steps or raises for teachers is happening at Lakeshore Public Schools. The school board Wednesday adopted the latest Lakeshore Education Association Master Agreement.

Superintendent Phil Freeman is pleased to have a contract in place, but wishes more could have been done for those that teach.

He says no matter how hard teachers work the economy makes it difficult to shell out wanted raises.

Freeman calls the situation frustrating, because it makes recruiting future talent difficult. A few perks which won’t cost the district money include extra days off. Also virtual workdays.

Freeman commends the LEA and district on their compromise.
